P001: Cordova Reclamation

About the Project

P001: Cordova Reclamation (Geophysical Survey – PS Suspension)

4 BH to 40m deep below the sea bed. <5m deep water depth.

Date: December 19 to January 21

Vessel Used: Jack-Up Pontoon #2 with PS suspension equipment

Nearshore PS-Suspension logger is a reliable and precise test in order to accurately measure in situ dynamic soil parameters.

SRGEC uses the PS Logger Probe equipment from Roberston GEO.

SRGEC uses a jack-up barge to prevent many undesired effects on the readings and data (movement, wave, noise, etc.). Furthermore, the risk of breaking the probe (lost and damaged equipment) is considerably lower when using jack-up barges.

The PS-Suspension tests are carried out through a moon pool in the deck of the jack-up rig inside a borehole.

The PS Logger probe contains a unique design of a powerful hammer source and two receivers, separated by acoustic damping tubes.

To acquire data, the probe is stopped at the required depth and the source is fired under surface command. Firing causes a solenoid-operated shuttle aligned across the borehole axis to strike plates on opposite sides of the probe in turn, setting up a pressure doublet in the surrounding fluid.

The resultant fluid motion produces a tube wave at the borehole wall with a velocity close to the shear velocity of the form together with a compressional wave.

As the waves propagate parallel to the borehole axis, they set up corresponding fluid movements that are detected by the two neutral buoyancy 3D hydrophone receivers and geophones, allowing the wave velocity to be determined.

The PS Logger probe is a low-frequency acoustic sonde designed to measure compressional and shear-wave velocities in soils and soft rock formations.

    • Deriving Poisson coefficient and dynamic moduli;
  • Laboratory tests on surface and underground samples;
  • Factual report summarizing the results of the investigations and laboratory testing.

For the drilling activities, the here-under table summarizes the actual in situ completion of the 25 boreholes:

P004: Pasay Harbor City Reclamation

About the Project

P004: Pasay Harbor City Reclamation (Sand Search for Boskalis)

BH & VC

Water depth: 10 to 30m deep

Date: February 2022 to June 2022

Vessel Used: Jack-up barges #1 and #2 with Crane Barge "La Roche"

The scope of work includes numerous Boreholes and Vibrocore and in situ testing.

The termination depth of the boreholes has been instructed on-site by BPI supervisors. The VC penetrating depth is
according to the equipment limitation and site conditions.

Laboratory tests are not part of this scope. VC Samples have been handed over to BPI directly on-site after extraction.

P005: Pasay Harbor City Reclamation

About the Project

P005: Pasay Harbor City Reclamation (Sand Search for PHCC)

3 BH. Water depth from 24 to 27m.

Date: 10 March to 14 March 2022

Vessel Used: Crane Barge La Roche

On March 2022, SRGEC conducted geotechnical drilling and undisturbed sampling for Pasay Harbor City Corporation under the supervision of AMH Philippines. Three (3) boreholes were contracted and drilled up to 30 meters below the seabed with an average water depth of 25 meters. The fieldwork for the 3 boreholes was completed in one (1) week only. Drilling was conducted using a cantilever platform onboard the crane barge La Roche. The possible sand source is intended for the reclamation project of Pasay Harbor City Corporation (PHCC).

P006: Manila Gold Coast Reclamation

About the Project

P006: Manila Gold Coast Reclamation (Sand Search for MGDC and Jan De Nul Philippines Inc.)

14 BH. Water depth from 25 to 40m.

Date: March 2022 to April 2022

Vessel Used: Crane Barge La Roche

On February 2022, Manila Goldcoast Development Corporation (MGDC), with supervision from Jan de Nul Phil (JDN), awarded to SRGEC the contract to drill eleven (11) boreholes with water depths of up to 40 meters in Manila Bay. Included in the project are undisturbed sampling and laboratory testing (index Property). The operation started in March 2022 and ended in April 2022. Eventually, an additional three (3) boreholes were added to the project while still finishing the field works ahead of schedule. Laboratory testing of the samples was completed a month later. The project is intended for the reclamation project of MGDC in Pasay City.

P008: Pasay Harbor City Reclamation

About the Project

P008: Pasay Harbor City Reclamation (Sand search for PHCC)

11 BH. Water depth from 17 to 40m.

Date: July 2022 to October 2022

Vessel Used: Barge SP-B2

On July 2022, SRGEC was again Contracted by PHCC under the supervision of AMH Philippines to conduct geotechnical drilling and undisturbed sampling in Manila Bay. Eleven (11) boreholes were contracted and drilled up to 30 meters below the seabed with a water depth of 40+ meters. Even with prolonged bad sea and weather conditions during the project period, SRGEC was still successful in completing the project within the timeline. This project showed how SRGEC can work in adverse environmental conditions and still provide quality results. The fieldwork was conducted using a cantilever platform onboard the barge SPB-2. The additional sand source is intended for the reclamation project of Pasay Harbor City Corporation (PHCC) in Pasay City.
